Advanced Instrument Flight Training
An Instrument Rating is one of the most challenging and rewarding certifications in aviation training. Instrument flight requires precise aircraft control, increased situational awareness, and the ability to safely operate solely by reference to aircraft instruments.
At Cardinal Wings Aviation, our experienced instructors help students develop confidence and proficiency through IFR training, real-world scenarios, and advanced flight operations. Instrument Rating Requirements
Students pursuing an Instrument Rating must complete FAA training requirements and demonstrate proficiency in instrument flight operations and procedures.
Basic Requirements
- Hold a current Private Pilot’s license
- Be able to read, speak, and understand English
- Pass the FAA Instrument Rating knowledge exam with a score of at least 70%
- Log required cross-country and instrument flight experience
- Successfully complete an FAA practical test and oral examination
FAA Instrument Training Requirements
- Minimum 50 hours of cross-country Pilot in Command time
- Minimum 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument time
- Minimum 15 hours of instrument instruction with a certified instructor
- IFR cross-country flight of at least 250 nautical miles
- Completion of multiple instrument approach procedures
- Advanced instrument flight proficiency development
