The Cessna 172 is the aircraft more pilots have learned in than any other, and it is the easiest possible introduction to flying. Stable, forgiving and unhurried, it gives you time to look around and enjoy where you are.
What happens on the day
You meet your instructor, walk around the aircraft together and see how a preflight check is actually done. Then you get in the left seat. Once you are clear of the pattern the instructor hands you the controls, and you fly it. Turns, climbs, descents, as much or as little as you want. The instructor is beside you the whole time on a second set of controls, so there is nothing you can get wrong.
